Savanne

Things to do - general

The Savanne district of Mauritius is situated in the southern part of the island. Often referred to as the wild south this part of Mauritius is by far the most scenic, rugged, wild and unspoilt part of the entire island. The coastline has long stretches of uninhabited white sandy beaches, volcanic cliffs and thick lush green forests that run for miles and miles along the coast.

The ocean here is pristine, its a mixture if turquoise and Indian ocean blue with splashes of dark navy. Due to the prevailing winds from the south east you get some huge waves coming in and hitting the coast.

If you enjoy outdoor activities and lots of stunning open scenic space then Savanne is the place for you. Here you can do a wide variety of outdoor activities. Relax and take in a round of golf, take a thorough bred racehorse for a ride along miles of secluded white sandy beach or rent a quad bike and take a 65 kilometre tour along the coast.

Inland you will find vast sugar plantations, rivers and streams, waterfalls and thick forests with some of the most stunning scenery and landscape you can imagine. This district is all about peace and quiet, seclusion and tranquillity.
